Your coach, one tap away
Your coach now sits in the centre of the bottom bar, and calls keep going while you use the app. Plus a productivity level, habit timers, photo and video check-ins, shareable routines and a journal.

For a while the coach was something you had to go looking for: a button in a header, a sheet behind a menu. That’s backwards. If a coach is going to help, it should be the easiest thing in the app to reach.
So this month the coach moved to the middle of the app, and calls stopped taking over the screen. There’s also a new way to see how your week is going, timers for habits measured in minutes, and a couple of new ways to share.
The big one
Tap the face, start talking
Your coach’s face now sits in the centre of the bottom bar: a small, gently moving portrait of Ada, Max, Ava or whoever you picked. Tap it and you’re on a call. On the web, press and hold it for the other options:
- Chat, if you’d rather type.
- Voice call, or Video call with the coaches that have a realistic face.
- Brain dump, to talk through everything on your mind and have it sorted into tasks, habits and events. It’s in the + menu too.
Calls that stay with you
Calls used to fill the screen until you hung up. Now you can minimise one and it shrinks to a small card you can drag to any corner (or, on a phone, a pill just above the bottom bar with the timer, mute and hang up). The call keeps going while you use the app: open a goal, tick off a habit, move a few tasks.
Your coach sees what you open
While you’re on a call, your coach knows which goal, task or habit you’ve opened, so you can just ask “what should I do about this one?” without explaining. It also works the other way: your coach can bring a screen up for you. Say you’re talking about your half-marathon and it says “let me pull up your running goal”. The call shrinks to the card and the goal opens. Tap the card to come back.
Both are on by default, and both can be switched off in coach settings. The eye icon on the call stops sharing what you open for that call.
Each coach keeps its name
You can rename your coach. Now each coach keeps its own name, so if you call Max “Bea”, switch to Ada for a week and then switch back, Max is still Bea.
01 / Stats
Your productivity level
Streaks tell you whether you showed up. They don’t tell you how the day or week went overall. So Stats now has a productivity level: a score out of 100 for today and for this week, measured against what you planned.
- Habits you were due to do and did.
- Planned tasks you finished. Urgent ones count more than normal ones.
- Goal progress made during the week.
Doing extra (tasks you hadn’t planned, check-ins on days off) adds a small bonus. Rest days and streak freezes don’t count against you, and if nothing was planned there’s no score rather than a zero.
The score maps to a level: Warming up, Steady, Productive, Very productive, Extremely productive, Insane, and Legendary, which needs 95 or more two weeks running. You’ll see whether you’re up or down on last week, and you can share your level as a card.
02 / Habits
Timers for minutes habits
If a habit is measured in minutes, like meditating, reading or holding a plank, it can now run a timer. Start a countdown to your target, or go open-ended and stop when you’re done. The minutes are logged when you stop, and a soft bell or a notification tells you when a countdown ends. Turn it on with the Timer switch when you edit the habit, or start from the Meditate, Read (minutes) and Plank presets. You can also ask your coach to start the timer for you.
A smaller fix for number habits: ticking one off now fills in whatever’s left of the target, so 40 of 60 minutes becomes 60 of 60.
03 / Check-ins
A photo or a five-second clip
Switch a habit’s dots to the Photo style and each day can hold a picture or a short selfie video of up to five seconds. Video days show a still with a play icon; open one and it loops quietly. After a month or two the grid becomes a little visual diary of the habit.
On a video call, your coach can take the photo for you from your camera. It always asks before saving it as today’s check-in, and it can suggest a couple of looks for the photo, like war paint for a workout or a quiet temple behind you for meditation. Nothing is applied unless you tap one.
04 / Sharing
Share your routine as a blueprint
If a friend asks how you structure your mornings, you can now just send them the routine. In Everyday, choose Share as blueprint, pick the habits and give it a name. You get a private link that isn’t listed anywhere.
Your friend opens it, sees the routine laid out the same way our built-in blueprints are, and adds the habits in one go. They get the habits, schedule, times and targets. They never see your history, notes, photos or streaks.
05 / Journal
A private place to write
There’s now a Journal in the side menu. Entries are private by default. If you write something you’d like to share, there’s a switch to post that entry to your feed, and you can switch it off later to take it down.
Try it this week
Everything here is live now. Next time you open Goaltree, tap the face in the middle of the bottom bar and ask your coach what to do first today. Then minimise the call and do it while you talk.
If you missed the October update, Talk, don’t type covers brain dump, screenshot to tasks, events and the Claude connector. And as always, I’d love to hear what you think: find us on X.
