Eisenhower Matrix app that sorts your tasks for you

Most Eisenhower Matrix apps give you four empty boxes and leave the hard part to you. In Goaltree, you tap the Eisenhower playbook on a goal and the AI coach sorts every open task, marks what’s urgent, schedules what’s important and asks before dropping the rest.

01 / What it is

The Eisenhower Matrix sorts tasks with two questions: is it urgent, and is it important? The answers put each task in one of four boxes: do it now, schedule it, hand it off or drop it.

It’s named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, who said that what is important is seldom urgent and what is urgent is seldom important. Stephen Covey made it popular in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

When to use it

  • Your list is long and everything feels like a priority
  • You spend the day reacting while the important work slips
  • You need to decide what to stop doing, not just what’s next

How to do it

  1. 01 List everything Write down every open task for the goal, big or small.
  2. 02 Ask two questions Urgent means a real deadline is coming soon. Important means it moves the goal forward.
  3. 03 Act on each box Do quadrant 1 now, put quadrant 2 on the calendar, batch or hand off quadrant 3 and drop quadrant 4.
  4. 04 Protect quadrant 2 Most progress lives in important work that isn’t urgent yet. Give it dates before it turns into an emergency.
02 / Other apps explain it. Goaltree applies it.

How Goaltree applies it

Pick the Eisenhower playbook and choose a goal. Your coach reads the goal’s open tasks, sorts each one into a quadrant and then makes the changes itself, instead of handing you a chart to fill in.

What your coach does

  • Marks every quadrant 1 task as urgent, so it rises to the top
  • Gives quadrant 2 tasks due dates staggered over the next 1–3 weeks, never all on the same day
  • Flags quadrant 3 tasks to knock out fast or hand off, without changing them
  • Lists quadrant 4 tasks as candidates to delete and asks you first. Nothing is removed until you say yes

In the app: Explore → Playbooks → pick a goal.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How is this different from an Eisenhower Matrix template?

A template gives you four empty boxes and leaves the sorting and the follow-through to you. Goaltree’s coach reads the tasks already in your goal, sorts them, marks the urgent ones, schedules the important ones and asks before deleting anything.

Will the coach delete my tasks?

Not without asking. Tasks it puts in quadrant 4 are listed as candidates, and they’re only removed after you confirm.

What counts as urgent and what counts as important?

Urgent work has a real deadline coming up soon. Important work moves your goal forward. A task can be one, both or neither, and that decides its quadrant.

Is it free?

Goaltree is free to start, with no credit card. Playbooks run in the AI coach chat: free accounts get a short coach preview, and Pro unlocks unlimited chat.
