Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Goaltree ("the Service"), operated by Goaltree ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using Goaltree you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must provide a valid email address and keep it up to date. We authenticate via magic link — do not forward magic-link emails to others.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used for abuse, spam, or illegal activity.

3. The Service

Goaltree provides AI-assisted goal planning, task management, and progress tracking. The Service includes a web application and native iOS and Android apps.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Where reasonably practical we will give advance notice of material changes.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Goaltree offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription. Subscription fees are charged in advance on a monthly or annual basis depending on the plan you select.

• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
• You may cancel at any time via your account settings or through the App Store / Google Play. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law.
• We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.

In-app purchases on iOS are subject to Apple's terms. In-app purchases on Android are subject to Google's terms.

5. Free trial

We may offer a free trial of Pro features. At the end of the trial period your account will revert to the free tier unless you have added a payment method and chosen to subscribe.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the Service without our written permission
• Use the Service to transmit malware, spam, or other harmful content
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service
• Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialise access to the Service without our written consent
• Impersonate another person or entity

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the goals, tasks, and other content you create in Goaltree ("User Content"). By using the Service you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, and display your User Content solely to provide the Service to you.

When you share a goal via its public URL, you grant other users viewing or editing access as configured by you. You are responsible for the content you choose to share.

We do not claim ownership of your User Content and will not use it for advertising or sell it to third parties.

8. AI-generated content

Goaltree uses AI to generate goal breakdowns, milestone suggestions, and task plans. AI-generated content is provided as a starting point and may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your specific situation. You are responsible for reviewing and acting on any AI-generated suggestions.

9. Intellectual property

The Goaltree name, logo, and all Service software, design, and documentation are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks or branding.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your personal data and forms part of these Terms.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Goaltree and its officers, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Goaltree and its officers, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.

On termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 15 survive termination.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless local consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
