MCP connector
Goaltree in Claude, ChatGPT and any MCP client
Ask your AI assistant what's on today, check off habits, reschedule tasks or turn a sentence into a full goal plan. The Goaltree connector is a remote MCP server that works on your own account after you sign in.

Your plan, in the chat you already use
See where you stand
Today's tasks, habits due, streaks, goal progress, your inbox, groves and friends' momentum.
Get things done
Check off tasks and habits, log water or steps, move tasks to another day, freeze a goal when life gets busy.
Plan something new
Describe a goal and Goaltree builds the plan, with milestones, weekly targets, tasks and habits, then puts it in your app.
- “What's on my plate today?”
- “Create a goal to run a half marathon by April, 30 minutes a day”
- “Push my Spanish practice to next week”
- “Move 'call the dentist' to Friday”
- “I drank 2 glasses of water”
- “Freeze my guitar goal for a week”
Add the connector
You need a Goaltree account (free is fine). On first connect you sign in to Goaltree and approve access on a Goaltree consent screen that shows which app is asking. The connector only ever acts on your own account.
Claude
On claude.ai or Claude Desktop, with a plan that supports custom connectors:
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
-
Name it Goaltree and paste
https://mcp.goaltree.ai/mcp, then Add. - Click Connect, sign in to Goaltree and select Allow.
ChatGPT
Custom connectors live under developer mode; menu names may shift slightly as ChatGPT updates.
- Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create.
-
Name it Goaltree, set the MCP
server URL to
https://mcp.goaltree.ai/mcpand authentication to OAuth. - Sign in to Goaltree and allow access.
Claude Code
Add the server, then sign in from inside Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http goaltree https://mcp.goaltree.ai/mcp
Run /mcp, pick goaltree
and complete the sign-in in your browser.
Other MCP clients
Cursor, VS Code, MCP Inspector and others: add a remote (HTTP)
server with the URL above. Clients that support MCP OAuth find
the sign-in automatically via
/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource.
No OAuth support? Create a personal API token in Goaltree under Settings → For developers and send it as a header:

Make changes 19 tools
create_goal Turns a sentence into a goal with an AI-built plan: milestones, weekly targets, tasks and habits. Optional deadline and time budget. Returns the milestones, today’s tasks and a link to the goal.
“Create a goal to run a half marathon by April, 30 minutes a day”
reschedule_task Moves a task’s due date, or pushes a habit’s upcoming check-ins, to today, tomorrow, next week, a weekday or a date. Works by name or id, in your timezone.
“Push my Spanish practice to next week”
complete_task / mark_done Checks off a task or habit. For a fasting habit it starts or ends the fast.
“Mark my morning walk done”
mark_not_done Undoes a completion that was marked by mistake.
“Undo that, I didn't actually go for the walk”
log_habit_amount Adds an amount to a number habit, like glasses of water, kcal or steps.
“I drank 2 glasses of water”
raise_habit_target Sets a new daily target for a number habit, starting tomorrow.
“Raise my steps target to 9,000”
set_habit_auto_progress Turns on, changes or clears automatic progression for a number habit: each week or fortnight the target rises by a step if enough days hit it, otherwise it holds.
“Raise my press-ups target by 2 every week if I hit it 6 of 7 days, stop at 100”
move_tasks_to_goal Files inbox tasks under one of your goals.
“Put my inbox tasks about the move into my Relocation goal”
move_task_to_target Moves your own tasks, from the inbox or another goal, under a specific target you pick, keeping their notes, tags, due date and completion. Nothing moves if any id isn’t yours.
“Move "book race entry" under the Taper week target in my marathon plan”
add_tasks_to_goal Adds one or more tasks to a goal: under a specific weekly target from get_goal_plan, or under the goal’s current milestone. Each task can carry a note.
“Add "book race entry" and "buy gels" to my marathon plan”
add_target_to_goal Adds a new section of work (a target) under a milestone, optionally with its first tasks (and notes for them).

set_task_urgent Marks a task urgent (high priority), or puts it back to normal. Reversible.

“Move my workout to 6pm today”
send_grove_message Posts a message in one of your groves as you, only when you ask.

“Send Sam a fire boost for her streak”
Permanent deletes (confirmation required) 2 tools
delete_tasks Permanently deletes tasks by id. It cannot be undone, so the assistant is instructed to read the task titles back to you and delete only after you explicitly confirm. If any id is unknown or not yours, nothing is deleted.
“Delete those two duplicate tasks (yes, I confirm)”
delete_goal Permanently deletes a goal with all its milestones, targets and tasks. It cannot be undone, so the assistant is instructed to name the goal and delete only after you explicitly confirm.
“Delete my old guitar goal (yes, delete it)”
For coaches (Coach Seats) 6 tools
Only goals a client has shared with you under an active coaching link. Edits follow the same rules as the app: marked “Edited by” you, your client is notified, and you can’t complete tasks for a client.
list_clients Your active coaching clients, the goals each one shared with you and what you may do there: edit the plan, never tick tasks off; whether habits and check-ins are shared. Read-only.
“Which of my clients shared a running goal?”
get_client_plan One goal a client shared with you, as its whole plan (milestones, weekly targets, tasks done and open) with ids. Read-only; only goals a client shares with you.
“Look at Sarah's half-marathon plan”
add_tasks_to_client_goal Adds tasks to a client’s shared goal, under a weekly target or the current milestone. They show “Edited by” you and your client gets the same change notice as an edit in the app.
“Look at Sarah's half-marathon plan and add two recovery runs to week 3”
add_target_to_client_goal Adds a new weekly target, optionally with tasks, under a milestone of a client’s shared goal.
“Add a taper week with three easy runs before Jay’s race”
rename_client_item Renames the goal, a milestone, target or task in a client’s shared goal.
“Rename Sarah’s "Long run 18 km" to "Long run 16 km"”
remove_client_tasks Permanently removes tasks from a client’s shared goal. The assistant reads the titles back and removes only after you confirm. If any id is not in a goal shared with you, nothing is removed.
“Remove the two duplicate stretching tasks from Jay’s plan (yes, I confirm)”
Your account, your say
- OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. Sign-in uses the authorization code flow with PKCE (S256). Your password never reaches the AI app.
- Per user. Each connection only sees and changes your own goals, habits and tasks.
- Short-lived tokens. Access tokens expire after 1 hour; refresh tokens after 7 days.
- Revocable. Disconnect from the AI app at any time, or in Goaltree under Settings → For developers → Connected apps: Disconnect revokes that connection's tokens immediately. Personal API tokens can be revoked there too.
- We don't sell your data. Data the connector reads or writes is handled under our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Rate and plan limits
The connector allows 60 requests per minute per user. Above that it answers HTTP 429 with a Retry-After
header. Unauthenticated requests are limited to 20 per minute per IP.
Plan limits are the same as in the app:
| Plan | Active goals | Active habits | AI plan builds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 | 3 | 8 a day |
| Free trial | Unlimited | Unlimited | 15 a day |
| Pro | Unlimited | Unlimited | 60 a day |
create_goal uses one plan build. When a limit
is reached the tool says so and suggests
upgrading to Pro.
